5 Dragon's Dogma 2 Beginner Tips
Here are Dragon's Dogma 2 beginner tips you should know! From weight management to environmental hazards, these are important to make things easy for you and your pawns!
I’ve played the first Dragon’s Dogma that was released in 2013 and now 7 hours deep into Dragon’s Dogma 2. I won’t give a review of the game nor give any big judgments as of now but there are similarities between the two where you can draw specific guidelines or practices that are sure to keep you prepared and relatively safe.
So, here are 5 Dragon's Dogma 2 beginner tips to help you on your journey as an Arisen!
Weight affects stamina and jumping height.
Much like other modern action RPGs, Dragon’s Dogma 2 has a weight capacity mechanic that measures the weight of your character; the Arisen. based on the items your character is carrying in your inventory.
The more you carry, the heavier you get. The heavier your character is, the more you consume stamina and jump lower.
Being heavy is not advised because you will have to manage your stamina more. Stamina is important as it lets you reposition, and use your skills. It’s not that your stamina bar becomes smaller, the consumption rate of certain actions just becomes much higher.
Stamina debuffs from heavy weight capacity also applies to your companions; or so-called Pawns. Therefore, try not to encumber or overcarry your companions as well.
Instead, try to distribute the items evenly among your party members.
You can safely let borrowed Pawns carry items.
Speaking of distributing items evenly among your companions, items that borrowed Pawns carry will always be returned to you when they die or are replaced.
Knowing this, it should be more encouraging to give heavier or unnecessary items to your Pawns so you can all move and act as freely as possible.
Command Pawns to reposition or retreat from battles.
Movement is very important in Dragon’s Dogma 2. Effective positioning or tactical retreats let you save your time, health, and stamina. So when you are in a fight against a large group of enemies or a strong foe, repositioning or running away is always an option.
To do this effectively and on command, you can always call for your Pawns using the Go! command to make them follow you. This works mid-combat and they will try to disengage to follow your command when you call for them.
I tried this against a raging Cyclops and it worked, saving my Pawns from dying and getting smashed to bits.
Be mindful of environmental objects and hazards.
Cyclops, Goblins, Harpies, Wolves, and other hostile creatures are not the only dangers you can find in the world of Dragon’s Dogma 2. Environmental hazards and objects can also hurt you if you are not careful.
Environmental objects like boulders and barrels can hit you or explode in your face. Environmental hazards such as blocked rivers or hanging bridges can break apart and put you and your party in great danger. So, it is always best to be mindful of your surroundings and avoid environmental objects and hazards.
Environmental objects and hazards are also dangerous for your enemies.
While I did say that environmental objects and hazards should be avoided, you can also try to use them to your advantage. Environmental Objects and Hazards are also dangerous for your enemies.
Enemies hit by rolling or falling boulders get hurt, and barrels can also damage your foes. A sudden rush of waters from blocked rivers can wash away and hurt enemies while hanging bridges can be cut down to make unsuspecting enemies fall to their doom.
